The Venice is a city in northern Italy known both for tourism and for industry. It is also named as the city of canals and the floating city because of the floating water all around the city.

The old city center is divided into six areas known as sestieri, Castello, Cannaregio, San Marco, Santa Croce, Dorsoduro, and San Polo. The city also has many private boats. The only gondolas still in common use by Venetians are the traghetti, foot passenger ferries crossing the Grand Canal at certain points without bridges.

The Venice is so famous for tourism. The St Mark's Basilica, the Grand Canal, and the Piazza San Marco are popular places to visit. The Lido di Venezia is also a popular international luxury destination.
